PHIL DEMETRO
Mastering Engineer

In 1996, Phil was attending Toronto’s Harris Institute for the Arts when he was invited to go on a tour of The Lacquer Channel. From that moment on Phil was determined to get hired as Chief Mastering Engineer, George Graves' assistant.

After a year and a half of paying his dues Phil went into full-time operation (South Room) in November of 2000. Since then, Phil has mastered thousands of projects, won several project related Junos, taught at the Trebas Institute in Toronto, had numerous mastering articles published, secured boutique equipment endorsements and made friends in major US mastering facilities. Phil continues to push the boundaries of mastering - current techniques include mastering from "stems" which give even greater sonic control of the mix.

Since 2002, Phil has music sales figures totaling over a million and has consistently had songs in the top 50 Canadian Radio spins chart.

Phil’s discography is as diverse as it is lengthy. His clients include, among others: Shawn Desman, Canadian Idol, Our Lady Peace, Keshia Chante, Hawksley Workman, Kardinal Offishall, Massari, Beenie Man, K-OS, Holly Cole, Paul Anka, Jully Black, and Choclair.
